This a friendly reminder that this month's Pinay Power Brunch is happening this Saturday!
Pinay Power Brunch

Potluck - Bring your favorite homemade or storeblessed dishes!
Tompkins Square Park
( http://gis.nyc.gov/parks/lc/NYCParkMapIt.do)
F at 2nd Ave; L at 1st Ave
Please bring some food to share -- we'll have drinks, plates, napkins and utensils covered.
Also, if anyone has some picnic blankets for us to sit on, that would be great, too! Look forward to see you all there!
If you can't find us or if you have any questions, call Kimmie at 646-932-9828 or me at 206-795-6899.
The weather forecast looks good for Saturday (keep your fingers crossed!), but if it's looking rainy when I wake up Saturday morning, I'll send out a mass email to let everyone know to come to my place. If you don't see an email from me by 9:00 am, we're at the park. (You can always give me a call to double check, too!)
See you there!

Goodbye, Sandy!

Some folks were able to make it for Sandy's numerous despedidas! Twas very sad to have this woman leave! Especially since she did so much on the organizing end for this event. (The day after, Val and I kept texting each other back and forth with variations of "I MISS SANDY!") We only wish her the best!
I hear Rowena's going to Costa Rica, and that Tes is in Paris...who else has big summer plans?

Pinay Brunch invite: May Edition
This is your last chance to see Sandy before she heads off to London! Let's share a meal and some sand, folks.

Where: CONEY ISLAND!
When: Saturday, May 19, 11:00am
Phone: (917) 340-0927
Greetings friends!
As discussed at the last brunch, the May edition will be held at Coney Island! We will probably have a meeting point in the city so we can head out together, otherwise call me when you get to the beach.
This will actually be my last brunch as I am leaving next month so it would be great to go out with a bang! Our brunches have served as an amazing space and I hope that it continues to grow.
Maraming Salamat!! ~Sandy

April 2007 Brunch Recap
Photos in this entry courtesy of Sandy! Please email yours to hanalei (at) gmail (dot) com! And they will be posted promptly!

What a great day to have an outdoors edition of the Pinay Power Brunch! My deepest apologies for being seven hours late, while being unable to top the killer Red Velvet cake that was already present, I came with gifts: Chicken McNuggets! (Who knew 40 pieces were too many?) It was spectacular to spend the first official warm, sunshiney day in the middle of Bryant Park with you all. As evidenced by the photos, I am the only one who has not yet successfully transitioned into her warm-weather wardrobe. UGH. Wasn't it JUST snowing last week?
Since I haven't been to a PinayPowerBrunch in a while, it was great to come across some new faces! I can't believe that the group has grown so much in just a matter of months. I'm pretty salty that I've missed a significant handful of PPBs, but that's what's great about this event, there's no pressure in attendance (or lingering for that matter!) Please remember that you are always welcome to pick it back up wherever you left off! If you are of Filipina descent and you can make it--- then you are always welcome to attend the Brunch. If not for the food, then just go and get your story swap on with some amazing Pinays from around the way.
In the last couple of weeks, the importance of sisterhood has really struck me. Sure, I was the type who always bragged about being the kind of girl who only had male friends, but now that I've been around some fantastically accomplished and strong women from different walks of life and disciplines--- it's been terribly grounding! I feel so centered, and I know I am incredibly fortunate to be in this place with you all right now, and can't wait to see what evolves from this...
Thank you to those two random men who we hassled into taking multiple versions of this photo. So now, I leave you with the supercooler version of the above fountain shot: the one where most of us are rocking our killer sunglasses (or "shades" to some of you.)
(If you can't tell by now, we are seated based on our respective geographical origins. West to East.)

Looking forward to Coney Island with you women on May 19th!
Love,
Hanalei
